We get a look at what to expect – and not to expect – during the WWDC Keynote on June 6, as well as the possibility of Apple building a proprietary search engine, wireless charging coming to iPadand Apple TV vs. Google TV, all on the new AppleInsider Podcast.
Apple Worldwide Developers Conference opening speech will be at 10 a.m. Pacific, Monday, June 6. Despite rumors leading up to the event that Apple would launch a VR or mixed reality headset, analysts now doubt that it will make its appearance. However, a recent Deposit mark for “realityOS” means we might see a software announcement at WWDC even though Apple does not release hardware.
As for what Apple will reveal, we break down everything to expect, including of course iOS and iPadOS, which may offer updates to widgets and multitasking. We hope HomeKit improvements, and listeners have great suggestions for new software features.
Apple may also release new Mac hardware at the event, with the Macbook Air M2 and the long awaited Apple Silicon Mac Pro being possible.
That said, tvOS definitely worth polishing up, as navigating through Apple TV can still be tedious. It seems more relevant right now, both as we head into WWDC and because a new Google TV app for iOS has launched.
We compare this to Apple’s offering and offer suggestions for streamlining the user interface. Finally, we touch on a recurring rumor of Apple’s work on a search engineas well as the benefits that wireless charging for iPad could bring.
