Google has experienced the change in its user interface since its inception. It keeps changing the themes, which makes the searches more interesting. Plus, positive user reviews encourage Google to keep doing what it does.
The dark theme has been in fashion for a long time. Many apps and operating systems are introducing darker modes to save battery. Not only that, mobile companies are launching darker modes to make it cooler. Apart from the cool factor, the darker theme has many benefits, including less eye strain, power/battery saving, and of course, a unique look. Users also liked the uniqueness and started giving positive responses.
Although Android implemented the dark mode feature in 2019, it wasn’t until December 2020 that Google thought of testing the feature in its search theme. The experience gradually expanded to other users before being made available to everyone in the gray color theme in September 2021. According to new evidence, Google intends to bring another color for the Google search theme and this time it’s even darker, i.e. black.
According to 9to5G, Google is trying a darker black color for search results pages and it looks interesting. This new interface would definitely add beauty as the links will become more visible with the darker blue color. If a user noticed it, visited links used to turn purple, but now the color of those opened links will also turn a bit darker.
According to reports, the change has no effect on Google.com’s main page. It still has the same light gray color theme. But only people who participated in the A/B test can access it. The new theme is not accessible to the general public, for now the old version is functional.
To access the darker theme, a user needs to search for the option. As the Google homepage opens, tap on the settings present at the top right corner and then navigate to the Appearance option. In the Appearance option, drag the dark theme button.
However, the dark style may not be the only change for Google Search. Researchers have already seen hints of a vibrant new color palette for image searches. This feature will be different from Material You which scrapes the color of the wallpaper. It will directly extract colors from the currently displayed image. Google has recently tried to improve the user experience by integrating designs across all platforms. This darker theme is just one example.
