DuckDuckGo is now blocking Google AMP in its search engine service shortly after its rival privacy app, web browser Brave, released its De-AMP feature.

That said, DuckDuckGo and Brave, which primarily focus on one thing – privacy, now bypass Google AMP, the tech giant’s publishing framework.
According to a report by The registerthe two privacy-focused services, Brave and DuckDuckGo, now disconnect AMP from Google, redirecting their users to the original web page of the sites they visit.
DuckDuckGo vs. Google AMP
The privacy-focused search engine, which offers its services as an alternative to Google Search, has announced that it is now “protecting” its users from AMP.
DuckDuckGo has assured its users that its app, which includes its clients for Android, iOS, and Mac, as well as its extensions for Google Chrome and Firefox, now bypasses Google AMP.
Instead of using the Google Mobile Pages tool, users of the privacy search engine will be redirected directly from the publisher’s websites they are trying to read.

According to a recent report by technical radar, Privacy app DuckDuckGo’s latest move comes shortly after Brave released a similar feature against Google AMP.
However, it should be noted that DuckDuckGo has not yet given more details on how its anti-Google AMP feature works for its app and extension.
Despite this, the privacy-focused service went on to claim in its tweet that “AMP technology is bad for privacy because it allows Google to track users even more (which is already a ton).”
Like other critics, DuckDuckGo took a swipe at Google’s alleged monopoly involving its AMP feature.
In addition to this, the privacy-focused software also claimed that Google prioritizes AMP links in its search results, which in turn compels publishers to use it.
Brave’s De-AMP feature
On the other hand, Brave has also released a new feature that blocks Google AMP on its web browser before DuckDuckGo moves.
Brave aptly calls the new De-AMP feature, which bypasses Google AMP for its users, taking them to the original site of its source.
The strong privacy web browser states that the DE-AMP feature prevents Google from tracking their browsing activities.
Like DuckDuckGo, Brave says Google AMP is harmful. The privacy-focused app further added in its announcement that “AMP helps Google monopolize and control more of the direction of the web.”

On the other hand, Register said in the same report that Google says AMP provides a more seamless experience because it loads pages faster because it runs directly on its servers.
Google has repeatedly told its critics that AMP is here to make web browsing a better overall experience, noting that it’s a partnership between their engineers and other publishers.
